DIY: Homemade Guava Jam Recipe | Herbal Goodness

Everybody loves a good DIY recipe but not as much as moms. Working moms and stay at home moms have one thing in common; always trying to look for creative and fun ways to get their kids to eat their fruits and veggies. Even if it is a fruit as interesting and vibrant as guava. Some kids might have a dislike for the many little seeds getting stuck in their teeth crevices or the strong scent or just not liking its color. What can I say? Kids will be kids!

That's where creativity comes in and Guava jam pops up. Tropical flavors make the perfect fruit spreads and guava ranks among the best. Sweet, yet tangy. Vibrant pink hues. The ultimate spreadable goodness. Juicy guavas made into a delicious spread perfect for toast, biscuits, pancakes, and more. This is one recipe to have in your arsenal of homemade goods.

So, let’s get right to it!

Ingredients for Guava jam(per 20 servings)

  • 500 gm pink guava
  • citric acid as required (you can also use lemon or lime)
  • Guayusa Leaf Extract Liquid (my personal organic secret for energy boost and improved mental performance)
  • 800 gm sugar(optional)
  • 2 cup water

Steps(Total Prep Time 45 minutes)

  • Chop and boil the guavas
To prepare this delicious jam recipe, wash the guavas thoroughly with water and chop into small pieces. Then put a deep-bottomed pan on medium flame and add water in it. Bring water to a boil and then add the chopped guavas in it and boil them too.Add 1-2 tsp pectin while cooking Guava puree for giving it a jelly-like consistency.
  • Mash the guavas & strain to remove seeds
When the guavas are boiled, drain the water and let them cool in a bowl. On cooling, mash these boiled guavas and strain through the jelly cloth.
  • Cook the guava pulp with sugar & citric acid
Now, put a pan on medium flame again and add this strained guava pulp and juice along with sugar and 1/2 teaspoon citric acid and four stopper drops of Guayusa Leaf Extract Liquid. Bring this mixture to a boil and stir well. Let the mixture thicken for a while.
  • Let it cool when the mixture thickens
When the mixture is thick enough for a jam-like consistency, switch off the flame and let it cool down at room temperature.
  • Store in airtight containers
Store this guava jam in sealed tight containers or bottles. If you see any residue on top of the jar or the bottle, remove it. Enjoy the delicious guava jam with bread or as a topping with your favourite dessert.

HOW LONG GOES GUAVA JAM LAST?

Homemade guava jam in an unopened, sealed glass jar will last 1 year in the pantry. Once opened, place in the refrigerator for about 6 months.

Tips

  • If you do not have an immersion blender, you can also use a potato masher or even a fork.
  • Sugar should be half the amount of the guava puree. You can adjust the sugar as per how much you are working with.
  • Since this is a homemade jam, it will stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Do not put the jam into the fridge when it is still hot. Let it come to room temperature before refrigerating.
